About the Job The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) is seeking a Deputy Commissioner of Debt Collector Licensing (CEA Level B) to join our leadership team. Will consider all DFPI office locations headquartered in Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or San Diego. Under the general direction of the Senior Deputy Commissioner of the Consumer Financial Protection Division (CFPD), the Deputy Commissioner of Debt Collector Licensing will protect Californians from illegal and unscrupulous debt collection practices through supervision and monitoring under the Debt Collectors Licensing Act (DCLA). Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each full‑time employee shall receive a reduction in pay in exchange for PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range included in the job advertisement does not reflect the reduction in pay. Employees will receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 per month. The incumbent must be willing to exercise flexibility and agility as well as be willing to telework (remote work) from home as needed. Telework is subject to DFPI's Telework Program Policy.
