It authorizes new degree programs, manages state‑funded financial aid, and develops policies to maximize higher education’s contributions. About Academic Oversight The Ohio Department of Higher Education works with staff and administrators from Ohio higher education institutions to ensure academic standards are met. It provides oversight and accountability for programs and courses and enacts policies that guarantee quality. Position Overview Academic Oversight Analyst – administrative staff and unclassified pursuant to §124.11 (A) (30) and §3333.03. Serves at the pleasure of the Chancellor and partners with the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs to maintain compliance of Ohio public and private institutions. The Position Is Responsible For: Reviewing institutions for continuous compliance with program rigor standards. Evaluating policies for compliance with state and federal laws, accreditation policies, and advising on areas of concern. Obtaining and storing documentation related to sanctions, notices, or adverse actions and monitoring progress. Working with institutions to achieve compliance with state, federal, and accreditor standards. Assisting in implementation of policy and processes related to program authorization and reauthorization. Monitoring updates to the Higher Education Act of 1965 affecting Title IV Federal Student Aid. Presenting policy updates of the Chancellor and General Assembly to stakeholders. Investigating institutions operating without authorization or on the fringes of policy. Representing the Vice Chancellor in meetings with state agencies, institutions, and the business community. Responding to complaints about compliance with institutional policies. Performing other duties as assigned.
