Teacher On Assignment - Virtual Instruction; Flexible Learning And Community Engagement
Job Description Qualifications: (1) Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution. (2) Valid Florida teaching certificate appropriate for the assignment. (3) Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience. (4) Experience in virtual, blended, hybrid, or online instruction preferred. (5) Experience using learning management systems, virtual instructional platforms, and digital instructional tools preferred. (6) Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to provide differentiated and individualized instruction in virtual, asynchronous, synchronous, and hybrid learning environments. Knowledge of online instructional strategies, digital curriculum resources, blended learning models, and virtual engagement practices. Ability to support students and families through coaching, communication, and instructional guidance in non-traditional learning settings. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills to effectively engage students, families, and staff in virtual learning environments. Ability to serve as Teacher of Record and monitor student progress across multiple instructional modalities. Knowledge of virtual learning platforms, learning management systems, student progress monitoring tools, and digital instructional technology. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to support instructional planning and student achievement. Ability to collaborate across departments and support varied learner needs in a flexible educational setting.
Reports To: Principal of Flexible Learning and Family Partnerships or Designee
Job Goal: To provide high-quality virtual instruction and instructional support through asynchronous, synchronous, and hybrid learning models while serving as Teacher of Record to ensure student engagement, academic progress, and successful learning outcomes across flexible educational pathways.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students through asynchronous, synchronous, and hybrid learning environments.
- Serve as Teacher of Record for assigned students, including monitoring academic progress, attendance, participation, and course completion requirements.
- Deliver differentiated instruction and personalized learning supports aligned to student needs, learning goals, and District standards.
- Utilize virtual instructional platforms, digital curriculum resources, and learning management systems to support effective teaching and learning.
- Facilitate small-group, individualized, and virtual intervention support sessions as appropriate.
- Support students enrolled in Indian River Virtual School and other flexible learning pathways through instructional guidance, progress monitoring, and academic support.
- Monitor student engagement and participation in virtual coursework and implement intervention strategies as needed.
- Utilize data to inform instruction, evaluate student performance, and adjust instructional supports to improve academic outcomes.
- Assist families in navigating virtual learning expectations, instructional platforms, schedules, and academic support.
- Support implementation of innovative instructional strategies and flexible learning opportunities aligned to District priorities.
- Report to an assigned District location or base site as designated to provide virtual instruction and support flexible learning, hybrid programming, and drop-in center responsibilities.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, instructional staff, and District personnel to support student success.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, attendance, expectations, and available instructional resources.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, ESE personnel, counselors, interventionists, and support services to address student learning needs.
- Serve as liaison between families, instructional staff, and virtual learning programs to ensure alignment and support.
- Participate in outreach and engagement efforts to support recruitment, retention, and success of students participating in flexible learning programs.
- Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Keep supervisor informed of potential concerns, instructional challenges, or unusual situations impacting student success.
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices in virtual instruction, blended learning, educational technology, and student engagement strategies.
- Participate in professional development related to online learning, instructional innovation, digital tools, and flexible learning models.
- Model effective virtual instructional techniques and digital learning practices.
- Reflect on instructional effectiveness and utilize feedback and student performance data to improve instruction.
- Stay informed regarding District initiatives, policies, and instructional expectations related to virtual learning.
- Support the mission and strategic priorities of the District through innovative and high-quality instructional practices.
- Align instructional practices with District curriculum, standards, and flexible learning expectations.
- Maintain accurate instructional records, student progress data, attendance documentation, and communication logs.
- Utilize technology effectively to support teaching, learning, communication, and organizational effectiveness.
- Demonstrate professionalism, collaboration, ethical conduct, and positive interpersonal skills in all interactions.
- Ensure adherence to District policies, state statutes, and federal regulations related to instructional delivery and student services.
- Support implementation and growth of virtual, hybrid, and flexible learning programs across the District.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve virtual instructional systems, student support, and digital engagement practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts through feedback, collaboration, and innovative instructional practices.
- Promote student-centered learning experiences that support engagement, flexibility, and academic achievement.
- Demonstrate initiative in identifying instructional challenges and implementing solutions to support student success.
Physical Requirements: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
Terms of Employment: Instructional Pay Scale - 10 or 11 months (as assigned) FLSA Exempt
