Barista

We’re looking for an energetic, coffee and specialty drink-loving Barista to join us this season in Woodlawn. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, communicative, and passionate about supporting BIPOC entrepreneurship. Just as important, this person must genuinely care about customer experience and bring the friendliness and consistency that keeps our guests coming back.Key Responsibilities:

Coffee & Beverage Preparation:

• Craft espresso-based drinks, teas, and specialty beverages with consistency and care.
• Support the launch and promotion of our new beverage program, contributing ideas and feedback on new recipes.
• Master drink recipes, presentation standards, and proper brewing techniques.
• Customer Service & Front-of-House Duties
• Provide outstanding service by welcoming every guest warmly and creating a positive, community-centered experience.
• Answer customer questions, make recommendations, and accommodate dietary needs or special requests.
• Be attentive and friendly to ensure every guest leaves satisfied, helping us maintain our 5-star reputation.
• Operate the cash register/POS system, handle cash/credit transactions, and process orders efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting café environment, including seating areas and counters.

Teamwork & Café Operations:

• Collaborate closely with teammates and management to keep service flowing smoothly during peak times.
• Assist with daily setup, restocking, and closing procedures.
• Communicate effectively with the back-of-house cook to coordinate orders.
• Uphold food safety and sanitation standards at all times.

Opening & Closing Duties:

• Prepare the café for service, including setting up the POS/register, brewing coffee/tea, stocking front-of-house items, and ensuring the café is guest-ready.
• Complete end-of-day transactions, restock for the next day, clean and sanitize equipment and areas, and secure the café.

Flexibility & Adaptability:

• Work in an indoor/outdoor, seasonal café setup — handling weather changes and adapting to different traffic flows.
• Embrace evolving menus, seasonal specials, and new service models.
• Step in where needed to support the overall success of the café.
• Other duties as assigned by café management.
