Job Description - Medical Radiographer-Cardiac Cath Lab (2601623) Medical Radiographer-Cardiac Cath Lab Position Summary Perform Radiological procedures at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Perform a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures, as required. Duties of the Medical Radiographer – Interventional Radiology / Special procedures Responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes. A radiographer performs a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, acquires, and analyzes data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Transfers and positions, provides immobilization devices, as required, to produce diagnostic radiographs Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis Selects and operates equipment as directed Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards Provides, assistance to the physician performing the case by scrubbing in as 1st Assistant and provide all necessary equipment and supplies Performs QA to images and facilitate in the delivery of the images and exams to the file room and PAC’s system for dictation Verifies all information related to the patient and exam to reduce radiation exposure as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) without compromising image quality Assist physician in the administration of opaque media. Independently performs or assists the licensed practitioner in the completion of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Radiographers prepare, administer and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations or lawful institutional policy. Practice sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Responsible for delegating areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures. Responsible for specific areas of instruction in the school of technology and ancillary personnel. Required to teach radiology students or appropriate hospital personnel established procedures and operation of equipment in accordance with the guideline and teaching objectives of the department. In the absence of a supervisor or senior technologist may be designated as acting supervisor. Assist in performing first aid or BLS when needed. Conduct periodic quality control tests. Participate or conduct research in required speciality. Administrative Responsibilities Maintain order and cleanliness. Secures and returns supplies. Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department. Rotates within the department and other departments and by shift as required. Adheres to hospital and departmental rules and regulations. May be required to assist in the development of technical factors for optimum image quality. May assist in the use of a variety of equipment or procedures, not routinely taught. Participate in in-service programs. Complete annual recertification and corporate education timely and as assigned. Meet all regulatory requirements such as DOH, Joint Commission, etc. Perform other related duties as required. Required Qualifications Graduate of a Diagnostic Radiology Program New York State DOH License in Diagnostic Radiology ARRT Certified BLS Certification Preferred Qualifications One Year Experience in Radiology and/or Interventional – Special Procedures Hospital Experience Special Notes Resume/CV should be included with the online application. Pay Range The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $101,595 - $128,846 Base. The above salary range represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
