## Description**SUMMARY**The Equipment Operator I, under supervision of the Superintendent or the Assistant Superintendent, performs work involving the use of large equipment, including tractors, loaders, trenchers, backhoes, trucks, and other maintenance equipment.**QUALIFICATIONS**To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.* Mows fairways and roughs with gang units.* Operates all types of equipment; turf vac, skip-loader, aerifiers, sprayers.* May operate smaller equipment as directed by his/her supervisor.* Ensures that the equipment cooling system is always working; refills fuel and cleans equipment daily; and reports equipment problems or failures to Head Mechanic.* Provides basic preventive maintenance on equipment as directed by the Head Mechanic or Superintendent and returns equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility.* Performs other duties as directed the supervisor.* Knowledge of safe, efficient mechanical operation of tractors and other motorized equipment.* Mechanical aptitude.* Ability to follow oral and written directions.* Possession of a valid driver's license.* All other duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent, and/or Assistant Superintendent.**REASONING ABILITY**Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Must be capable of lifting 50-80 lbs. for 10-30 times repeatedly. Employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time (1-2 hours) with ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, balance, walk straight lines, handle or feel objects like tools or controls. Must have ability to talk/hear and understand when machine is not operating normally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception. Employee can expect to work in all aspects of weather; hot, cold and rain.**WORK ENVIRONMENT**The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
