Maintenance SpecialistImmediate Supervisor: Assistant Director of MaintenanceGeneral Description: This is a full-time position approved to work up to 40 hours/week at ASU Mid-South. The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining buildings and equipment. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.Responsibilities:Makes minor repairs to the interior/exterior of buildings and facilitiesMaintains furniture and equipmentEmploy basic skills in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical.Starts, operates, and checks for safety and maintenance on a wide variety of small engines and/or hand tools.Maintains vehicles by changing oil and filters, replacing tires, repairing brakes, changing plugs, and performing other repairs; keeps vehicle maintenance and repair records.Cleaning and replacing filters on air conditioning units and performing minor repairs on central heating and air conditioning systems.Other duties as assigned.Skills:Knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical systems, plumbing, painting, and heating and air conditioning.Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and safety requirements of motorized vehicles and equipment.Ability to operate and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on motorized vehicles and equipment.Ability to perform routine building maintenance work.Ability to operate and maintain electrical tools and machinery.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience or training in general maintenance, landscaping, or mechanical repair preferred.Have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.Ability to lift and carry cumbersome items and operate grounds equipment safelyReview of Applications: Begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled.Salary: $31,200 with full-time benefits availablePlease note that ASU Mid-South requires a criminal background check as well as a driver's license check as part of the employment process.Required Application Materials:a completed ASU Mid-South application for employment including contact information for three professional references who can attest to the candidate's qualifications for this positiona resumecopies of college transcripts relevant to the position of interest (if applicable).For an application to be considered, all requested materials must be submitted via the online application.ASU Mid-South and the Arkansas State University System are Equal Opportunity Employers.
