NC DHHS AWS/Java/ETL Developer

Job Summary (List Format):
- Serve as an AWS/Java/ETL Developer focused on data modernization using AWS cloud solutions.
- Collaborate closely with data modernization teams (ITD and DPH) to design, implement, and manage cloud architectures aligning with business needs.
- Modernize legacy and in-house applications by refactoring/migrating to AWS cloud environments.
- Design, develop, and test enterprise-level, cloud-native Java applications and backend systems.
- Build, maintain, and optimize ETL pipelines using AWS services and cloud-based ETL tools.
- Utilize AWS services such as VPC, EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway, Glue, and Athena.
- Work with relational databases, write complex SQL queries, and perform database debugging and performance tuning.
- Apply DevOps practices and use automation tools for CI/CD and infrastructure management.
- Analyze data models, validate data integrity, and ensure business requirements are met.
- Design and execute test cases, including back-end and data validation testing.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure quality deliverables.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, security best practices, and participate in code reviews.
- Monitor application performance, optimize for cost, security, and reliability.
- Work within Agile/Scrum framework environments.
- Preferred: Experience with data analytics tools (Power BI, AWS QuickSight), AWS certification, and previous state government project experience.
- Required: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
