Echo/Vascular Sonographer - Florida Heart and Vascular, Leesburg

Position Summary Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic cardiology and/or vascular sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention under the supervision of the department supervisor, manager, or director. Qualifications Education/Training: Meets the education and training requirements under established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines. Licensure/Certification: Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification. Must maintain one of the following: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in fetal echocardiography (ARDMS). Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) (ARDMS). Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS), or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through CCI. Experience: Minimum of one year of experience. Must demonstrate competency in performing at least five of the following ECHO and/or vascular exams: 3‑D, Strain, Exercise Stress Echocardiography, Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography TAVR, Mitral Clip, Complex Valve, Watchman, Post Processing, Contrast Studies, Agitated Saline Studies Transesophageal (TEE), Surgical TEE, Complex Cardiac Shunts, Pericardiocentesis, Single Ventricle, TOF, AVC, TGA Venous Insufficiency, Visceral, Segmental Physiology Upper Extremity, Access Grafts, Hemodialysis Access, Venous Ablation Procedures Ultrasound Guidance, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Temporal Artery, Transcranial Imaging Responsibilities Demonstrate competency in routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular ultrasound diagnostics, and equipment operation and maintenance. Require in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines. Solves complex problems. Exercise judgement based on analysis of multiple sources of information. Recognize normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology in conjunction with obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical and diagnostic information. Work closely with the cardiologist to perform noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular diagnostic sonographic exams and function independently in the absence of the supervisor and/or manager. Exercise professional judgment in performance of services and maintain a demeanor complimentary to quality care. Deliver appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures. Comply with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality. Adhere to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards. Assess the patient’s physical condition and age‑specific needs. Provide instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results. Perform proper patient identification, acquire patient’s clinical history, and assure accurate documentation. Position patient, equipment, and associated devices and manipulate technical factors to achieve high‑quality images for interpretation. Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring all relative anatomy is demonstrated. Comprehend and comply with Quality Control standards and participate in all Quality Control tasks. Administer medical aid as required for any emergency situation. Apply appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross‑contamination of contagious diseases. Utilize all Orlando Health computer systems effectively and accurately. Ensure safety of all customers. Maintain accurate and precise documentation; accurately record verbal and telephone orders from physicians in the patient record. Communicate openly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Participate in supervising student sonographers, training, and orienting new sonographers, directing daily workflow, participating in quality and safety initiatives, and acting as a department super user. Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Assist in transporting patients. Follow established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation. Assist in clerical duties, such as printing reports, scanning documents, and scheduling patients. Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment. Maintain well‑stocked and organized work areas. May be required to work at any Orlando Health facility. Assist with other departmental duties and responsibilities as needed. May be required to work after‑hours and call shifts as needed. May be required to assist with contrast administration if pertinent to department.
