Ambulatory Infusion Scheduler

Job Summary: This role is responsible for coordinating the scheduling of chemotherapy, blood, iron, hydration, antibiotics, and other hematology/oncology-related infusions, along with general infusion treatments. The position also includes front office duties such as patient check-in and phone management. The schedule is Monday through Friday with no weekends or holidays.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant (MA) preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Fiscal: Collaborate with oncology and pharmacy teams, labs, and other providers to efficiently schedule infusions and office visits. Ensure schedules optimize productivity and patient experience. Manage office supplies and maintain authorization processes.
  • Quality: Support leadership in enhancing infusion center capacity and delivering cost-effective care. Problem-solve, multitask, and stay current with scheduling policies and chemotherapy regimens.
  • Patient Satisfaction: Promote a professional, quiet environment, respond promptly to patient needs, and facilitate smooth patient flow. Communicate effectively with oncology and nurse navigation teams to minimize disruptions.
  • Patient Safety: Schedule care according to provider instructions, maintain accurate patient and infusion records, adhere to HIPAA, and perform front office tasks including copayment collection.
  • Professional Growth: Share knowledge with colleagues, demonstrate leadership, identify learning opportunities, and participate in departmental goal development.
  • Customer Service: Build strong relationships with patients, staff, and providers. Uphold core values such as respect, integrity, and empathy. Maintain flexibility with assignments and staffing needs.

Additional Responsibilities: Make clinical decisions related to infusion schedules and chemotherapy regimens, collaborate with nursing and pharmacy, and maintain a positive, solution-oriented attitude. Requires understanding of oncology management, laboratory and symptom management, insurance authorizations, and computer proficiency. This position is based in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
