Gain the experience necessary to take your career to the next level. The Pastry Cook assists the Pastry Chef in producing quality desserts and pastries for all dining rooms across the community. We are looking for a creative person with a solid understanding of cooking and baking basics The Ideal Candidate You bring the dishes that the chef creates to life. You understand the importance of staying within budget and know exactly how much to prep. You also understand that cleanliness in the kitchen and safe food handling is key. The kitchen team is tight and you're a valued player. And as a motivated active listener, you're well positioned to learn all things culinary. Duties Responsible for preparing quality desserts and pastries per standardized recipes. Collaborate with pastry chef to create new and exciting dessert specials to engage the interest of customers. Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours and determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus. Ensures that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food are preserved. Follows all safety procedures when handling kitchen equipment and complies with department sanitation standards and personal hygiene/uniform standards. Ensure compliance with inventory procedures; inform kitchen manager or Chef as stock runs low. Delivery of desserts to other locations on campus using golf delivery carts Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station. Assist in the training of new kitchen staff. Assists the pastry chef in other duties as assigned. Knowledge of nutrition and diet Culinary education preferred Prior to beginning work at our community, applicants must complete and pass a drug screening, physical exam with tuberculosis (TB) skin test, and criminal clearance through FBI and Department of Justice (over 18 only).
