Residential Associate Director

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the direction and supervision of the Residential Network Director, the Residential Associate Director provides day-to-day leadership for residential services within the assigned network. The Associate Director maintains a regular presence across residential locations, supervises and develops assigned staff, and supports effective operations, quality person-centered services, regulatory compliance, workforce effectiveness, and the health and safety of people supported. Salary $68,000-$73,000 Hours M-F 8:30 am- 5 pm including a minimum of two weekday evenings each week, with additional flexibility based on network needs. Location New Lenox

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides day-to-day leadership for residential services within the assigned network, supporting consistent, effective, and person-centered service delivery. Maintains a regular and visible presence across residential locations to observe services, interact with people supported and employees, assess conditions, identify concerns, and ensure appropriate follow-through. This includes a minimum of two weekday evenings each week, with additional presence based on network needs. Provides direct supervision, coaching, development, and performance management to assigned members of the network leadership team and other employees as determined by the Residential Network Director. Conducts individual supervision with assigned direct reports at least bi-weekly. Establishes clear expectations for assigned employees and holds them accountable for performance, service quality, compliance, and follow-through. Supports effective residential teams by identifying training and development needs, providing coaching and guidance, and addressing performance or team concerns. Supports high-quality residential services that promote dignity, choice, independence, community inclusion, individual rights, and meaningful quality-of-life outcomes for people supported. Provides leadership and support to ensure effective implementation of Personal Plans, Implementation Strategies, Behavior Support Plans, health and safety supports, and other person-centered service requirements within assigned areas of responsibility. Monitors residential services and operational practices for quality and compliance with applicable regulations, accreditation and funding requirements, and Trinity Services' policies and procedures. Supports readiness for surveys, monitoring visits, audits, and other external reviews and ensures timely follow-through on identified concerns and corrective actions within assigned areas. Identifies service, staffing, compliance, environmental, or leadership concerns and works with residential leaders to address them, escalating significant, recurring, or unresolved concerns to the Residential Network Director. Supports a stable, effective, and appropriately trained residential workforce, including attention to staffing, vacancies, scheduling, overtime, employee performance, engagement, and retention. Promotes the use of Personal Outcome Measures, Flourish, and other person-centered practices to understand what matters to people supported and strengthen residential services. Ensures residential environments are safe, clean, well-maintained, and reflective of the needs and preferences of the people who live there, with appropriate follow-through on identified concerns. Provides leadership in response to significant incidents, staffing concerns, health and safety matters, employee issues, and other emerging residential needs. Develops and maintains effective relationships and communication with people supported, families and guardians, employees, organizational leaders, and other stakeholders. Supports residential admissions, transitions, and discharges and coordinates assigned activities necessary for effective transitions. Collaborates with Nursing, Quality Assurance, Employee Services, Intake, and other organizational departments to address residential needs and support coordinated service delivery. Works closely with the Residential Network Director to implement priorities, communicate expectations, and address operational needs. Exercises independent judgment within assigned responsibilities and assumes delegated leadership responsibilities when the Residential Network Director is unavailable. Participates in the established on-call system and provides leadership and support in response to residential needs outside regular business hours as assigned. Models Trinity Services' values and contributes to organizational committees, initiatives, fundraising efforts, community events, and other agency activities as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated leadership, supervision, coaching, performance management, and staff development skills. Strong knowledge of residential services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the day-to-day operational demands of community-based residential programs. Working knowledge of Illinois DHS/DD, CILA, Medicaid-funded services, accreditation standards, and other applicable regulatory requirements. Ability to establish clear expectations, provide effective follow-through, and hold employees accountable for assigned responsibilities. Ability to exercise sound judgment and make timely decisions within assigned areas of responsibility, including recognizing when matters require escalation. Strong organizational, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a multi-site residential environment. Ability to identify service, workforce, environmental, and compliance concerns and work collaboratively to develop and implement effective solutions. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with people supported, families and guardians, employees, organizational leaders, and other stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively as part of the network leadership team while independently managing assigned responsibilities. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding people supported, personnel matters, regulatory activities, and organizational information.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires regular travel and in-person presence across residential locations and other program, office, and community settings. The Residential Associate Director must be able to safely navigate residential environments and may occasionally provide direct assistance during emergencies, staffing shortages, training, or when necessary to support the health and safety of people supported. Physical requirements of this position include the ability to: Remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings. Operate a motor vehicle and travel regularly between residential and other program locations. Move throughout residential environments, including navigating stairs, entrances, uneven surfaces, confined areas, and other features commonly encountered in individual homes. Lift up to 40 pounds from floor to waist without assistance. Push or pull up to 75 pounds. Push occupied wheelchairs weighing up to 200 pounds. Squat, kneel, bend, reach, and maneuver as necessary to safely assist people. Respond to emergencies and assist with emergency evacuations when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Business Administration, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; candidates actively pursuing an applicable master's degree may be considered. Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in services for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, including demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience. Experience in community-based residential services strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to supervise and develop employees, manage competing operational priorities, address performance and service concerns, and support quality outcomes. Working knowledge of Illinois DHS/DD, CILA, Medicaid-funded services, accreditation standards, and applicable regulatory requirements preferred. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, communicate effectively, collaborate across disciplines, and appropriately escalation significant concerns.
