Specialist Legal Counsel

Specialist Legal Counsel Description This role is responsible for developing legal strategies and providing specialized legal expertise in one or more specialty areas. The role supports the provision of fiduciary oversight and represents the organization before external agencies. Additionally, the role contributes to complex projects, develops new methods for recurring legal issues, and mentors junior team members. Responsibilities Develop legal strategies and identify potential legal risks in the specialty area for assigned internal clients or other organization’s attorneys. Provide legal subject matter expertise in areas such as intellectual property law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate securities law, litigation, employment, structured financial deals, government contracting, outsourcing, environmental, employee benefits, or bankruptcy. Develop new ideas and methods to effectively address recurring legal issues or matters facing multiple client organizations. Support the provision of institutional knowledge, support, and fiduciary oversight concerning corporate and local governance standards, policies, processes, and reporting requirements. Monitor evolving regulatory landscapes and industry trends to ensure the organization’s adherence to changing legal requirements. Represent the organization before industry policy‑setting organizations, government agencies, and other regulatory bodies. Contribute to complex multidimensional projects or transactions by identifying and resolving legal issues requiring in‑depth knowledge and judgment within a specialty area. Apply advanced subject‑matter knowledge and exercise independent judgment in resolving business issues and establishing policies. Mentor junior team members, providing guidance, sharing knowledge, and fostering professional growth. Education & Experience Four‑year or graduate degree in law, or any related discipline, with commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence. Typically 7–10 years of work experience, preferably in commercial, general, or specialty law, or a related field. Preferred Certifications State Bar Membership. Salary The pay range for this role is $165,000 to $215,000 USD annually, with additional opportunities for bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
