Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develops and administers an English curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives. Promotes a safe and conducive classroom environment for individualized and small‑group instruction and learning. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of district curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units and projects. Maintains accurate record‑keeping, grading and attendance records as required. Engages in ongoing professional growth that satisfies district requirements and personal development goals. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and administers standardized tests in accordance with district and state testing requirements. Applies current teaching methods, educational pedagogy and differentiated instruction based on student learning styles. Assumes responsibility for related duties assigned by the building principal. Adheres to policies adopted by the Bellingham School Committee. Skills/Ability Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level or discipline is preferred. Certificates, Licenses and/or Degree Requirements MA DESE English Licensure (Grades 5‑12) required. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to teaching assignment. Master’s degree preferred. Job Requirements Master’s degree preferred. Citizenship, residency or work visa required. Salary Per BTA Contract Classification BTA Physical Working Conditions Required physical capability to escort students during practice drills or emergencies in a safe and timely manner. Must be able to move around the classroom and bend, sit or stand frequently.
