Assistant Food Service Director
Revere, MA
$25 to $26 per hour depending on experience

Our client is seeking a dependable and experienced Assistant Food Service Director / Lead Cook to support the daily operations of the dining department. This role assists in ensuring all meals are prepared and presented according to client standards while maintaining a high-quality dining experience.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Food Service Director

• Assist the Food Service Director in the daily operation of the department
• Ensure all meals are prepared and presented according to client standards
• Provide a high level of customer service and promote a restaurant-style dining atmosphere
• Work closely with the Food Service Director to maintain resident satisfaction with dining programs
• Maintain kitchen, food storage, and preparation areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition at all times
• Open and/or close the kitchen as needed
• Adhere to assigned cleaning schedules and enforce standards with staff
• Ensure all food is received, stored, and prepared according to company standards
• Estimate daily or weekly food and supply needs; communicate and assist with ordering when necessary
• Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and approved menus
• Document food temperatures, as well as refrigeration and freezer temperatures
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors and ensure trash is emptied regularly
• Assist with transportation and storage of food and supplies
• Follow all standard food safety practices
• Support preparation and execution of special events, banquets, and themed meals
• Maintain payroll and attendance records; lead by example with scheduling adherence
• Foster a cooperative and respectful team environment while maintaining high standards
• Operate the kitchen in the absence of the Food Service Director
• Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas for cleanliness and functionality
• Keep resident diet charts updated
• Assist with backfilling short cook shifts as needed
• May perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications of the Assistant Food Service Director

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 1–3 years of experience as a cook in a hospitality or healthcare environment
• ServeSafe Certification required
• Ability to read and follow recipes, production guides, cleaning schedules, and logs

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. without assistance
• Ability to bend, reach, and work in confined areas
• Ability to push and pull equipment and furnishings
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
