Activities Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities:1. Creates and adheres to a monthly activity calendar.2. Speaks to and interacts with residents at all levels of care while showing empathy, kindness, compassion, and respect.3. Coordinates special events for residents, families, staff, and assists the community relations department as requested.4. Supervises residents on outings, shopping trips, and doctor’s visits.5. Always maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for all residents.6. Provides training, guidance, and support to staff to meet established performance standards and expectations.7. Acts as facilitator and takes minutes at resident council meetings.8. Follows up on any concerns voiced and discussed at the resident council meeting with the appropriate department manager.9. Provides resolution for reports and documents resolution at the next resident council meeting.10. Observes and reports to supervisor daily all changes in the resident’s health and emotional condition.11. Demonstrates the ability to set and manage priorities.12. Responds promptly and courteously to residents request for assistance including phone calls and requests from family members and visitors.13. Communicates effectively in a language that each resident can understand.14. Observes and reports safety hazards immediately to supervisor.15. Practices good body mechanics and safe working habits.16. Knows, understands, and follows established policy and procedures in emergency situations.17. Responsible for being essential personnel during emergencies and/or inclement weather.18. Works as a team player with other associates and management in accomplishing work assignments.19. Demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude about work issues, policies, and procedures.20. Demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude with residents, families, visitors, associates, and management.21. Complies with attendance and call off policy.22. Attends, participates in trainings, in-service, and mandatory meetings.23. Wears clean and appropriate dress according to the established dress code policy.24. Refrains from discussing resident care issues with families and visitors and refers all inquiries to immediate supervisor.25. Knows, understands, and complies with HIPAA regulations.26. Takes on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties.27. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
