Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor and Delivery provides comprehensive patient care, managing both the direct caregiving responsibilities and overseeing care delivery as a care manager. This role involves assessing, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions for obstetric patients, while supporting team supervision and ensuring compliance with clinical standards.

Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough assessments of physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive patient status.
• Implement care plans consistently and skillfully, adhering to policies and procedures.
• Educate patients and families about their care needs, readiness, and treatment plans.
• Document patient information accurately in electronic or paper records in compliance with regulations.
• Supervise and delegate patient care tasks effectively to team members, maintaining clinical standards.
• Assist as a Charge Nurse when required, coordinating staffing, admissions, discharges, and transfers.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited nursing school; current Washington State RN license.
• Hold or obtain BLS certification within 30 days of hire; ACLS and specialty certifications preferred.
• Minimum one year of RN experience in acute care; obstetric or Labor and Delivery experience highly desired.
• Demonstrate strong critical thinking, decision-making, and crisis management skills.
• Possess physical ability to perform patient lifting, movement, and emergency procedures.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills and emotional stability for high-stress clinical environments.
