Shift Lead

Responsibilities Open and close the store in the absence of store management, including all required system start‑ups, cash handling, and ensuring the floor and stock room are ready for the business day. Responsible for opening the back door for deliveries. Complete product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops to the safe, and provide change as requested to cash registers. Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience. Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits. Hold store keys to open and close without management as necessary. Assist with and coach other team members on warehouse and vendor ordering processes, including opening the backdoor for vendor deliveries. Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, including records of scanning errors, price verifications, items not on file, price modifications, and voids. Assist manager or assistant store manager in reviewing order exceptions and reverse logistics. Assist in evaluating and developing displays, including promotional, seasonal, and bargain merchandise. Complete resets and revisions. Maintain accurate inventory counts and ensure on‑hand quantities are correct across departments, stockroom, and overstock locations. Assure the Outdate program is followed and help with fraud prevention procedures. Perform basic department pricing and make daily price changes; ensure proper signage is displayed. Assist with bookkeeping activities, including cash reports, cash counts, ledgers, and bill payments as requested. Assist with exterior and interior maintenance, ensuring a clean, neat, and orderly store condition. Separate food items and assist in stock rotation using FIFO methods. Maintain a working knowledge of store systems and equipment. Assist at the Pharmacy outlet window as requested. Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products. Perform bag checks of team members before leaving the store. Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers. Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned. Training & Personal Development Attend training and complete required PPLs as requested by the Manager. Communications Serve as a liaison between management and non‑management team members by communicating assigned tasks when store management is absent. Report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management. Basic Qualifications One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience. Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico) Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of store inventory control. Consideration of qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records. Obtain and maintain a valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state.
