Environment, Health and Safety Manager

Position Summary The EHS Manager is responsible for leading and managing all Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a culture of safety across the organization. This position works closely with cross-functional teams to support ExoTerra’s mission, technical objectives, and operational goals. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure regulatory compliance and workplace safety Lead safety training programs and ensure all employees receive proper EHS orientation and ongoing education Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of the manufacturing facility Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, and accidents; develop corrective actions and preventive measures Manage OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements; maintain all required EHS documentation Collaborate with engineering, operations, and production teams to identify and mitigate workplace hazards Oversee hazardous materials management, waste disposal, and environmental compliance programs Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits Lead emergency response planning and coordinate emergency drills Track and report EHS metrics and KPIs to leadership; drive continuous improvement initiatives Additional duties as assigned Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field Experience: 5+ years of progressive EHS experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role EHS experience in a mechanical assembly facility is required Strong understanding of the physical hazards, safe work practices, and required safety protocols in a mechanical assembly environment Ability to recognize and manage the physical risks inherent to mechanical assembly work, including safe tool use, equipment handling, and adherence to established safety requirements Developed, maintained, and delivered EHS processes and training within an industrial manufacturing environment In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, and other applicable federal and state EHS laws Experience with incident investigation methodologies and root cause analysis Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to influence at all organizational levels Ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred Qualifications Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent certification Experience in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing environments Familiarity with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or similar management system standards HAZWOPER certification and experience with hazardous materials handling Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies Work Environment & Physical Requirements Ability to work in office, manufacturing floor, and laboratory environments May require standing for extended periods, lifting up to 35 lbs., and use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear Occasional travel to supplier or customer sites may be required (less than 10%) Able to meet program deadlines and occasional schedule flexibility for incident response Export Control / Compliance Requirements To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
