Assembler / Composite TechnicianI am seeking motivated candidates to join our team as an Assembler / Composite Technician. In this role, you will help build and assemble high-performance composite products using materials such as carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass. Working as part of a collaborative production team, you will prepare materials and molds, complete composite layups, trim and finish parts to specifications, and assemble components using adhesives and mechanical fasteners. You'll follow detailed work instructions and blueprints, perform quality inspections, and help maintain a safe, organized, and fast-paced manufacturing environment. Eligibility requirements, available benefits, and plan details depend on job classification, length of employment, and specific program terms, and benefits are subject to change.ResponsibilitiesPrepare molds, materials, and tooling for the fabrication and assembly of composite components.Cut, measure, and place composite materials such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, adhesives, and core materials according to work instructions and specifications.Perform composite layups by applying and smoothing material layers to ensure quality and consistency.Trim, sand, drill, route, and finish composite parts using hand and power tools to meet blueprint and dimensional requirements.Operate production equipment, including vacuum press systems, to support the curing and manufacturing of composite structures.Assemble composite products using structural adhesives, rivets, bolts, screws, and other mechanical fastening methods.Install hardware and components while ensuring proper fit, alignment, and adherence to specifications.Conduct visual inspections and quality checks to verify workmanship and product compliance.Collaborate with team members, engineering, and quality personnel to troubleshoot issues and support continuous improvement efforts.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company procedures and safety guidelines.Perform work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Safely lift, move, and handle materials and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or GED required.Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal work instructions, blueprints, and technical drawings.Basic math skills, including measuring, calculating dimensions, and working with material layouts.Previous experience in assembly, manufacturing, fabrication, mechanical work, construction, woodworking, automotive, or other hands-on environments.Mechanical aptitude and confidence using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments such as calipers, scales, and protractors.Familiarity with shop equipment such as saws, sanders, drill presses, grinders, or similar tools.Ability to accurately measure, inspect, and verify work to ensure quality standards are met.Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.Ability to work independently, stay productive, and take initiative while contributing to a team environment.Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.Composite materials experience (carbon fiber, fiberglass, Kevlar, or similar materials) is preferred but not required.Reliable work history, strong work ethic, and dependable attendance.Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise, extended periods of standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in entry-level composite technician roles within assembly and lamination departments.Hands-on experience with composite lay-up, lamination, and curing processes using materials such as carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass.Experience with inspection and quality assurance activities related to composite parts and assemblies.Familiarity with composite repair techniques and finishing processes, including sanding, contour shaping, and painting.Experience using vacuum press equipment and other composite processing tools.Comfort working with various adhesives, sealants, and bonding agents in structural applications.Ability to perform simple documentation of process steps, parameters, and deviations in production or quality systems.Trainable mindset with a desire to build, learn, and quickly pick up new techniques and processes.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with leads, engineering, quality, and fabrication teams to resolve issues.Potential to obtain or maintain respirator certification, if required for specific tasks.Comfort using hand and power tools for cutting, grinding, sanding, and drilling, both in professional and personal settings.Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a manufacturing environment that is generally loud and fast paced, with frequent use of shop equipment such as band saws, disk sanders, drill presses, grinders, wood lathes, and vacuum presses. Day-to-day work involves receiving technical assignments from a lead, who determines whether tasks can be completed independently or require shadowing and guidance. Once an assignment is completed, technicians return to the lead for the next task, promoting continuous workflow and learning. Typical daily activities include cutting carbon fiber parts, operating saws and sanders, using power sanders and sanding blocks, and working with various adhesives, coatings, and composite materials. The position may require extended hours to meet production schedules and involves regular lifting of assemblies up to 50 lbs. Safety procedures are emphasized, and some tasks may require respirator use depending on materials and processes. The environment supports structured processes, clear instructions, and close collaboration with leads, engineering, quality, and fabrication teams to ensure high-quality composite structures.This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spanish Fork, UT.The pay range for this position is $19.41 - $20.41/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
