Event Coordinator

Event Coordinator & Front-of-House Manager Athens Cooks needs one person to run our events program and lead front-of-house service. You will plan the events and work them. Small classes may be yours to run alone; at larger dinners and private events, you will lead the servers. Athens Cooks is an independent, locally owned business at 100 Prince Avenue in Athens, Georgia. We are a kitchen store focused on quality, safe cookware, clean food, organic wines, and chef-led cooking classes. What You Will Do Build a calendar of cooking classes, wine tastings, chef dinners, private gatherings, and corporate events. Find and develop relationships with guest chefs, instructors, winemakers, cookbook authors, and other presenters. Work out the menu, timing, guest count, ingredients, equipment, setup, staffing, and service plan for each event. Handle registrations, guest communication, dietary restrictions, and private-event inquiries. Attend most events and take responsibility for the room from setup through close. Hire, train, schedule, and coach a small front-of-house staff for café service and events. Keep event costs, chef fees, attendance, and revenue organized. Pricing and contract approval remain with the owners. Provide accurate event information and materials to the people handling marketing. Who We Are Looking For You may have experience in restaurants, hospitality, catering, events, wine, culinary education, or another setting where both people and details matter. You should be able to: Build professional relationships with chefs, instructors, clients, and community partners. Keep track of commitments and follow through without repeated reminders. Run a small event independently and give clear direction during a larger one. Stay composed when timing changes or a guest has a concern. Lead staff while continuing to work alongside them. Work evenings and weekends as required by the event calendar. This is a full-time, primarily on-site position. Our regular café hours are currently 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; event hours vary.
