Travel RN - ICUAmerican TravelerWinston-Salem, North Carolina, United StatesAssignment type: travelShift: NightsLength (weeks): 13Openings: 1$1,951.00/week (estimated advertised weekly pay)DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU/Stepdown RN with strong vasoactive drip titration skills for a night shift position requiring NC or compact RN licensure.DetailsICU stepdown unit with 20 beds and an ADC of 18Patient ratio of 1:3-4Patient population includes post rapid response team patients, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, post-op surgical patients (GYN, GU, GI, thoracotomies, neuro, ortho), and pre/post OB with complicationsTreats adolescent, adult, and geriatric patientsNight shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-7:15)Every other weekend requirementFloating required as needed to a sister ICCU unitNo block scheduling; schedule created by nurse manager36 or 48 hours per week availableOnly one pressor drip per patient permitted on the unit; additional pressors require transfer to ICUDrips managed include Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and NeoBedside telemetry monitors with remote backup usedUnit uses A-lines, BIPAPs, chest tubes, and tracheostomies; no ventilators on unitUses Pyxis and Epic systemsRequirementsActive RN license (NC or Compact) requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of relevant RN experience requiredExperience with arterial line management and titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips requiredExperience with PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown and telemetry requiredSkilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmiasExperience with IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, and heparin protocols requiredCentral line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management experience requiredExperience managing chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care requiredNon-invasive airway management and isolation precautions/PPE experience requiredIV start, telemetry, and conscious sedation experience requiredEpic charting experience preferredMust pass EKG testing prior to startAdditional InformationProvide advanced ICU-level stepdown care including drip titration, telemetry monitoring, and rapid response team supportParticipate in hospital orientation during the first week, with availability required for daily classesComplete required pre-start modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles), with annual renewalScrubs must be navy, white, or a combination of bothMust work 2 of the 3 major holidaysRTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO allowed during first week of assignmentFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyLocal candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rateFormer Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying and disclose employment history for facility approvalTravel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission13-week minimum assignment length, with option for longer contracts
