About the Position

Job Title: Med/Surg Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience in a hospital setting License: RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required Must-Have: - Must have current RN license - Must have certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS Description: Med/Surg Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. Responsibilities include consulting and coordinating with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Prepare and administer medications and record them accurately. Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with nursing policies. Educate patients on surgical procedures and their care. Record patients' medical information and vital signs accurately. Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients and interpret electronic displays. Initiate corrective action whenever a patient displays adverse symptoms. Provide bedside care for a variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients. Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician. Teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness or injury by explaining post-treatment home care needs. Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs as necessary. Prepare equipment and assist the physician during examinations and treatments. Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocols. Participate in discharge planning and utilize time management skills effectively. Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner. Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on the setting.
