About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 23-bed Observation Medical-Surgical unit serving a diverse patient population including cardiac, CVA/TIA, post-surgical, GI/Urology, AKI, cellulitis, and detox/CIWA patients
• Perform NIHSS/Neuro assessments and dysphagia screenings; initiate and titrate drips including Heparin and Insulin
• Manage cardiac cath recovery (femoral/TR bands), post-surgical care, indwelling drains, straight cath/Foley care, NG tube insertion, and blood administration with documentation
• Float within skillset as first to float, including potential cross-campus float to a nearby Indiana campus and a Kentucky campus; 2-hour notice provided for cross-campus float
• Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements: three weekends per six-week schedule and every other holiday
• May be required to precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility

• Current, active compact RN license
• AHA BLS certification required - must be attached upon submittal
• NIHSS certification required - must be attached upon submittal
• Minimum of two years of strong Medical-Surgical experience and at least one prior travel assignment
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Experience with cardiac cath recovery, including femoral and TR band management
• Proficiency with drip initiation and titration (Heparin, Insulin) and strong critical thinking and assessment skills
• Familiarity with CIWA protocol and detox patient management
• Experience in an observation or step-down unit setting

• Unit is known for being welcoming to travel nurses with a strong team culture and notably low turnover
