Overview

Baker Brothers Plumbing, Air & Electric is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Permits Specialist to manage the permitting process for residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC, and electrical projects.

The Permits Specialist will coordinate with municipalities, inspectors, field technicians, project managers, and internal operations teams to ensure permits are accurately obtained, tracked, updated, and closed in a timely manner. This role is critical to maintaining compliance with applicable city, county, and state requirements while supporting efficient project completion.

Responsibilities

What Will I Do?

• Prepare, submit, and track plumbing, HVAC, and electrical permit applications.
• Research permitting requirements for applicable municipalities and jurisdictions.
• Maintain accurate records of permits, applications, fees, inspections, and project documentation.
• Coordinate inspections with municipalities and communicate inspection requirements to field personnel.
• Monitor permit status and proactively follow up on pending applications, corrections, and approvals.
• Ensure permits are properly assigned to the appropriate jobs and technicians.
• Review documentation for completeness and accuracy before submission.
• Communicate with city and county permitting offices, inspectors, and other governmental agencies.
• Resolve permitting issues, corrections, and discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Maintain organized electronic and physical permit files.
• Assist operations teams with questions regarding permitting requirements and processes.
• Track permit-related deadlines and ensure required actions are completed.
• Stay current on changes to local codes, permitting procedures, fees, and jurisdictional requirements.
• Provide regular status updates and reports to management.
• Identify opportunities to improve permitting processes, reduce delays, and increase operational efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Do I Have What It Takes?

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in permitting, construction administration, compliance, office administration, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.
• Ability to communicate professionally with government agencies, inspectors, technicians, customers, and internal teams.
• Ability to learn and navigate multiple municipal permitting systems.
