Senior Underwriting Operations Governance Specialist

As the Underwriting Governance & Controls Senior Analyst in the Americas region you will embody these values. Your primary role will be to support the Governance Operations Manager by ensuring that underwriting in the region is provided with timely, accurate and complete management information, analysis and portfolio management. You will also be responsible for ensuring that underwriting activities adhere to internal and external (including regulatory) control and governance standards. The role requires a proven ability to positively and effectively manage a complex blend of global and regional priorities and agendas, while driving consistency of approach and efficiencies.What you’ll be DOING What will your essential responsibilities include?Work with Americas underwriting leaders, with minimal oversight, to ensure effective governance and controlsImplement a sound control environment by leveraging good practices, common processes and technology (collaborating with Global CUO’s, GIO etc.) Co-ordinate with Americas CUO, Business Unit Heads and 2nd and 3rd lines of defense (Risk Management, Internal audit) to continuously improve business processes and controls (first line of defense) across all applicable products and functionsAssist in maintaining the first line of defense framework and processes to ensure compliance with underwriting governance and controls. Focus on the individual business unit compliance with UW controls set by GCUO and the Americas Segment Leaders.Leverages common processes and technology to drive efficiency and simplicity across products and functions, and where applicable across regions (in collaboration with Global CUO and GIO). Coordinates schedule for sick and vacation time for the unit; effectively manages back up staff as neededThis role will report to the Governance Operations Manager. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location.
