Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated, community-minded individual to support outreach efforts for IrvineCONNECT, a free shuttle service operated by the City of Irvine. IrvineCONNECT links the northern end of Irvine to Irvine Station, with convenient stops at parks, schools, hospitals, trails, and shopping centers.

This role is essential in increasing community awareness and ridership by actively engaging residents, businesses, and community organizations along the service corridor. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys independent fieldwork, values public service, and represents the City of Irvine with professionalism, warmth, and enthusiasm.

Key Responsibilities

Community Events & Tabling

• Attend community events and set up engaging outreach booths with flyers, schedules, giveaways, and interactive materials.
• Provide clear, friendly information about IrvineCONNECT routes, stops, schedules, and benefits.
• Represent IrvineCONNECT and the City of Irvine professionally at all times.
• Safely transport, set up, and break down outreach materials after events.

Canvassing & Community Engagement

• Conduct semi-monthly outreach along the IrvineCONNECT corridor, visiting:
• • Local businesses, hotels, schools, libraries, and healthcare facilities
  • Faith-based organizations and community centers
  • Senior centers, HOAs, apartment complexes, and service organizations
• Build relationships with community partners to increase awareness and ongoing promotion of IrvineCONNECT.
• Identify opportunities to present at community meetings, neighborhood associations, and group gatherings.
• Focus outreach on communities with potential mobility needs, including seniors, youth, LEP populations, low-income residents, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.

Materials & Inventory Management

• Maintain organized inventory of outreach materials and giveaways.
• Monitor supply levels and request restocking in advance.
• Ensure all materials are current, accurate, and professionally presented.

Documentation & Reporting

• Capture photos of outreach activities while respecting privacy guidelines.
• Submit written summaries after each event, including:
• • Attendance and engagement totals
  • Key questions, feedback, and observations
  • Community partner interactions
  • Follow-up opportunities
• Submit timely activity and hour reports

 

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.
• Strong preference for bilingual candidates (English + Spanish or Chinese).
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in the field.
• Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Comfortable engaging with diverse communities.
• Professional, approachable, and enthusiastic about public service and transportation.
