The Hockenbery Lab is hiring a Research Technician II who will be responsible for performing standard and investigative laboratory work in support of scientific research on genetic mechanisms of spontaneous regression of a transmissible cancer in Tasmanian Devils by performing bench-level experiments, operating analytical instruments, recovering, compiling, and verifying the accuracy of research data; performing calculations; preparing charts, graphs, and summaries. Responsibilities Perform experiments at the bench level to support investigative work. Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, stocks, cultures or cell lines. Perform and modify documented protocols and assays. Maintain laboratory records and compile data on experiments and assays. Interpret and report on experimental results. Perform statistical analysis of test results and prepare written reports on work performed. Operate and carry out basic maintenance of laboratory equipment. Order and maintain appropriate levels of supplies. May supervise work-study students. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework Preferred Qualifications Independent research experience separate from school lab experience Experience with mammalian cell culturing. Demonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of study Demonstrated basic laboratory skills The hourly pay range for this position is from $26.48 to $37.70 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
