DOT Permitting Coordinator Transmission & Utility Services

Job Title

On-Site role Job Description: Our direct client is seeking a full-time supplemental worker to support the Department of Transportation (DOT) permitting and agreements team in the Transmission Line Services (TLS) department.

Position duties include:

• Assisting DOT coordinators with assembling, reviewing, submitting, tracking, and communicating permit statuses to internal work groups in the transmission and fiber organizations of the client.
• Communicating with ALDOT Districts, Areas, Regions, and within the Client's Power Delivery organization to resolve permitting questions or issues.
• Ensuring adherence to the ALDOT utility manual and permitting guidelines.
• Assisting with Oversized load route reviews for ALDOT permitting companies through APCO territory.
• Assisting with Temporary Traffic Control plan reviews following Part 6 of the current Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).

Required skills and experience:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel).
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation and GIS programs.
• Understanding of plan and profile layouts and cross-section sheet layouts.
• Ability to read and understand legal documents relevant to utility permitting and relocation, such as easements, right-of-way agreements, and utility relocation agreements.
• Familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), specifically Part 6 Temporary Traffic Control.
• A 4-year degree in a related field (such as engineering) or 3 years' experience in transmission, distribution, or fiber design and/or field operations.

Preferred skills:

• Familiarity with SOCO JETS and Teams software.
• Experience in DOT, city, and county permitting.
