Cleanroom Micro-Soldering Specialist - 1st Shift (5:00am-1:30pm)

Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Cleanroom Micro‑Soldering Specialist at its Lynnwood, WA location. Hours are Monday – Friday 5:00am–1:30pm. Job Summary The Cleanroom Soldering Specialist works under limited supervision performing advanced assembly processes to manufacture Crane Aerospace and Electronics products in accordance with military, FDA, and other assembly standards. The role emphasizes expertise in soldering, particularly micro‑soldering, and requires performing visual inspections and adhering to safety practices. Essential Functions Perform advanced soldering tasks, including micro soldering, to assemble components and sub‑assemblies. Prepare components prior to assembly: clean, mark, and inspect. Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy; proactively identify safety concerns or issues. Train and mentor new employees and other team members in soldering techniques, processes, and Crane tools. Prioritize daily demand as communicated by team‑lead and/or supervisor for the cell(s) they are working in. Discuss and problem‑solve quality issues with Manufacturing Engineers, the Quality group, and leadership. Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings for improvement. Cross‑train to work on all processes within the value stream. Identify and report issues to leadership. Complete job‑related company training courses. Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI’s, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they arise. Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary. Perform any other task assigned by supervisor or management. Non‑Essential Functions Understand and/or participate with internal/external audits. Review work instructions for errors and/or clarification improvements. May be required to repair/rework defective or returned assemblies. Minimum Qualifications Experience: 10+ years of Small Component Assembly experience in a manufacturing environment; minimum 1 year of specific micro soldering experience. Knowledge: Raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Skills: Strong verbal and written communication; proficiency in reading comprehension of English work documents; basic computer skills. Abilities: Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception; manipulative skills, including finger and manual dexterity; adept hand‑eye coordination and arm‑hand steadiness; ability to interpret production or engineering prints and assembly aids; ability to work well in a high‑paced, high‑volume environment. Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent; fine soldering certificate or equivalent experience. Eligibility Requirement: The position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where access is required, only U.S. Persons will be considered. Preferred Qualifications Ability to coach and mentor and to influence the employment process. Ability to perform part marking, wrapping, and packaging finished goods and transport them to other work areas. Ability to ensure all paperwork and work order transactions are completed appropriately and close work orders. Ability to perceive and pre‑determine sequence of operations and installation requirements from sketches and oral instructions. Experience maintaining equipment on a stringent calibration schedule. IPC solder certification. Designated inspection certification. Working Conditions Working conditions could include a Class7 or Class8 Cleanroom, or a general manufacturing environment. Up to 7 hours of microscope work daily. Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment, including but not limited to eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps, and any other required PPE. Employees may be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises. Standing: 25% of time. Sitting: 75% of time. Lifting (in pounds): up to 40lb. Pushing (in pounds): up to 40lb. Mental/Visual: use of soldering equipment, microscopes, magnifying glasses.
