Plant Maintenance Mechanic

Overview

The Plant Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing manufacturing and production equipment to keep the plant operating safely and efficiently. This position plays an important role in minimizing equipment downtime, supporting production, and ensuring machinery and facility systems remain in reliable working condition. The technician roles are focused on maintaining and repairing critical equipment and keeping operations running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production and manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveyor-related equipment issues.
• Inspect machinery regularly to identify worn, damaged, or malfunctioning components before they cause production delays.
• Repair, replace, adjust, and lubricate equipment and mechanical components as needed.
• Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades.
• Diagnose equipment problems and determine the appropriate repair or maintenance solution.
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and parts used.
• Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and other maintenance equipment safely and properly.
• Work closely with production personnel to identify equipment issues and maintain efficient operations.
• Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area.
• Follow all company safety procedures, maintenance procedures, and plant policies.

Skills and Experience

Previous industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience is highly important for this position. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing production equipment and understand how equipment operates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Candidates with experience working around conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, electrical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, packaging equipment, or other industrial machinery are strongly preferred.

The ability to identify the cause of equipment failures-not just replace parts-is important. The mechanic needs to be comfortable working independently, responding to breakdowns, and completing preventive maintenance before problems affect production.

The ideal candidate will have previous industrial maintenance or plant maintenance experience , strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of OSHA safety requirements. Experience in a food, beverage, manufacturing, bottling, packaging, or production environment is especially valuable.

The successful candidate should be dependable, safety-conscious, mechanically skilled, comfortable working around production equipment, and able to respond quickly when equipment issues arise. Experience matters because this position directly impacts production uptime, employee safety, equipment reliability, and product quality.
