Instructor of Surgical Technology

Job Summary Instructor of Surgical Technology – Faculty position in the LSUE AA – HSBT – Surgical Technology department at LSU – Eunice. The role requires teaching, assessment, program development, and student advising. Responsibilities Conduct didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction (≈50% of duties). Develop and implement remedial plans. Design, conduct, and proctor assessments to evaluate program and course learning outcomes (≈30%). Use the university’s learning management system (LMS), Exam Soft, and Trajecsys. Develop instructional materials, course outlines, and laboratory/clinical experiences (≈10%). Participate in program, divisional, and university committees and meetings (≈5%). Provide academic advising, track transcripts, monitor student progress, and support retention and recruitment efforts (≈5%). Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited education program. At least 2 years of experience in the operating room (first scrub role) or as an instructor within the past five years. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through a National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accredited program. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited education program. 5 years of experience in the operating room first scrub role and in instructing surgical technology. More than 66% of time: Reaching (above shoulder), squatting, lifting, pushing/pulling, walking, reaching (below shoulder), bending, standing, grasping, twisting, sitting. Salary $55,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year, paid on a 12‑month faculty basis.
