Travel RN - ICU

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a hybrid Cardiac ICU/Stepdown (CCU) position at a large Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center, requiring 2 years of experience and an active CT license.

Job Details

• Hybrid unit consisting of 8 cardiac ICU beds and 6 cardiac stepdown beds,
• ICU patient population is primarily CT Surgery pre- and post-op, with some Advanced Heart Failure cases,
• Stepdown patients include CT Surgery, peripheral vascular (PV), and Heart Failure,
• Daily nursing assignments rotate between ICU and stepdown; floating within the unit and to other stepdown areas may occur based on facility needs,
• Average patient ratio of 1:3,
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00),
• Every other weekend required,
• No on-call required,
• Charting system: Epic (required),
• Short-term acute care hospital setting, Level I Trauma Center with 1,567 staffed beds,
• Block scheduling is not available,

Job Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted if active prior to start date (CT license typically takes 15-21 business days to issue, so early application is strongly encouraged),
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/CCU experience required (candidates with 1.5 years may be considered with Level I Trauma or travel experience),
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS; CCRN preferred,
• Experience at a large trauma center or academic medical center required,
• Epic EMR experience required,
• Required skills: IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care and management,
• Proficiency with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG/ECG, continuous IV sedation, and pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring,
• Experience with care of ventilated patients, epicardial pacing wire management, post-cardiac surgery care, and valve repair/replacement preferred,
• Comfort with HVC (High Value Care) practices required,
• 1 professional reference required for consideration,
• Active nursing license must be free of prior disciplinary actions,

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted,
• Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler,
• RTO requests of 7 days or fewer can typically be accommodated; requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval,
• Royal blue scrubs required,
• Flu vaccine is mandatory; declinations are not accepted,
