    \n
  • You will serve as a Common Weapons Launcher (CWL) Electronics Engineer in the Submarine Combat and Weapon Control Systems Program Office (PMS 425) under Director, AUKUS, International, and Systems (AIS).
  • \n
  • You will be responsible for electronics, analyses, and design used for Naval ships/submarines and ship systems/subsystems.
  • \n
  • You will consult with Program Managers, Technical Warrant Holders, Deputy Warranting Officers, Chief Engineer (CHENG), Program Executive Office (PEO) staff, Warfare Centers, Maintenance Activities and other top officials
  • \n
  • You will advise on application of mathematical and engineering sciences to problems concerned with electronics, electromagnetics, and power.
  • \n
  • You will plan and conduct investigations, operational testing, risk assessments, analyses and design modifications of electronics.
  • \n
  • You will evaluate factors affecting system performance characteristics. Reviews and evaluates the effect of new and/or modified electronics on overall system performance.
  • \n
  • You will advise Fleet, SECNAV, OPNAV, NAVSEA, and field activities on difficult or controversial matters, such as modifying systems to meet new, demanding performance requirements.
  • \n
  • You will advise on how to deal with new technologies for which no precedent exists, plan for future system expansion, or cope with emergencies. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Functional Area and Tier assigned to the position, along with Continuous Learning (CL) points, are required within established timeframes.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

\nYour resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02 (GS-11 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer, analyzing the operation of electronics for ship or submarine systems to provide guidance on an electronics engineering program development or design modifications. \n

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: \n
\n
\n Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.\n

\n Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. \n Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)\n

\n Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. \n
