In this role the employee will oversee design rework, ICDe integration, and release of key prototype deliverables—including prototype rework documentation and 2D stick drawings—to enable higher software fidelity and support high-quality physical builds. This opportunity will require the employee to interface with colleagues around the world, as well as, to lead a team of engineers. The position entails working closely with vehicle program teams, other Product Development engineering groups such as interiors and body/white, chassis, validation, program team, purchasing, marketing, and manufacturing.What You’ll Do:Provides program specific requirements for sourcing processProvides technical background in PSDS supplier technical reviewsCreates initial harness parts list and complexity studiesMaintains consistency of effort for the program - knows the PSDS Statement of Requirements, program, timing, issues, plan etc. and manages details when changes are requiredManages efforts of the supplier within the engineering factoryIdentifies and schedules training needs accordingly with EGM approvalParticipates in interface tradeoffs and resolves integration issuesManages the cost, quality, mass, etc. for the power and signal distribution system including content and program changesSupports Pre-Production build events including both physical and virtual buildsEnsures that the design, development, and electrical release of the Wiring System are integrated within the vehicle architecture with qualityConducts Product Development Team meetings to ensure deliverables and timing are metLeads benchmarking analysis to support innovation, tradeoff or cost /benefit analysisLeads Peer and Wire Harness Assessment reviewsProvides assembly plant launch and remediation supportGenerates technical solutions for current, new and major programs with engineersProvides technical leadership for advanced technology developmentPerforms complex design analysisDevelops engineering designs (including subsystems)Implements engineering changesSpecifies and balances system requirementsPlans and implements test and/or development programsReleases parts and subsystems for productionCommunicates, coordinates, and consults with engineering departments and customersStays abreast of new technology and competitive productsTravels as requiredInterface between TS and DRE on design directionDirects and facilitates assigned team members to appropriate experts (TS, program electrical architect, program lead wiring engineer, etc.)Provides complexity reduction ideas as a direct interface with marketingLeads discussion with program teams on design and execution, i.e. Vapir, VCITYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Chemistry or PhysicsMinimum of 7 years of professional engineering experienceMinimum of 5 years of engineering experience in Power Signal or Wire harness packagingUnderstanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanismsDemonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area requiredHigh level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complexStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and effectively with othersKnowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related areaThis position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review.What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):Masters Degree5+ years of engineering experience in Power Signal or Wire harness packagingExperience Leading a Release Execution TeamProgram Management Skills#LI-SW1SPONSORSHIP: GM DOES NOT PROVIDE IMMIGRATION-RELATED SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS ROLE.
