CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT MAC FLOAT

Medical Assistants are essential members of the clinic team. They contribute to patient healthcare by assisting with exams and procedures, organizing and managing patient flow, and taking on other responsibilities based on departmental needs. Incumbents will be utilized in different units within the MAC (Moffitt Ambulatory Center) to ensure quality patient care and appropriate staffing. Job Responsibilities Assist patients with ambulation and/or movement on/off exam tables, chairs, and in or out of wheelchairs using proper body mechanics and safety measures (e.g., lift equipment). Perform initial patient screening after identification, including vital signs, screening questions, allergy information, and medication history; notify staff of abnormal findings and document data accurately in the medical record. Load images in preparation for provider visits, as needed, and ensure smooth clinic patient flow while communicating delays to patients and staff. Assist practitioner in patient procedures and examinations, including room preparation, patient positioning, supply and equipment management. Defer patients that do not require nursing intervention. Maintain and apply aseptic techniques and universal precautions during clinical duties. Provide support to the provider during clinic by assisting with phone calls and faxes. Recognize emergency situations and implement emergency procedures, including first aid and CPR. Qualifications and Credentials High school diploma or GED, required. Prior experience in an outpatient clinic setting as a Medical Assistant. Prior experience performing phlebotomy. BLS certification, required. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program. CMA certification required within 6 months from date of hire. Salary Range $20.14 – $30.70 per hour. Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range.
