Laborer

The laborer will play a crucial role in a safe and efficient construction site. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensure that work areas are clean, safe, and ready for construction activities by removing debris, hazards, and obstacles to create a suitable environment. Handle tools, raw materials, and equipment. Load and unload items as needed for construction tasks. Digging, compacting earth, and backfilling holes by performing manual labor, including digging trenches, filling pits, compacting soil and backfilling excavated areas. Operate construction off‑road vehicles. Follow safety protocols while using equipment. Laborers take direction from supervisors and follow construction plans. Assist heavy equipment operators and other skilled workers. Assist in creating a positive and safe work environment. Complete assigned training in a timely fashion. Be coachable and learn from team members. Minimum Qualifications Willingness to learn from more experienced craft to become more proficient and knowledgeable. High school diploma or equivalent. Demonstrate the ability to finish tasks safely, accurately, and promptly. Knowledge of standard hand and power tools and how to use them safely and correctly. Basic construction experience. Ability to solve problems. Basic carpentry skills. Able to relay and receive information from field management needed for the current project/task. Strong work ethic. Good attitude and attention to detail. Ability to work in a team environment. Demonstrate the ability to stay on task efficiently, safely, and flexibly. Additional Requirements As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre‑employment drug screening (post‑accepted offer) and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations. Necessary Physical Requirements The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee may be occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and lift, handle, or move objects weighing up to 75 pounds with frequent opportunity to move about and to work outside the office environment for extended periods involving exposure to the elements with weather that will include extreme heat, cold, wind, rain or other inclement weather, walking over rough and uneven surfaces, and routine lifting of up to 35 pounds. If required, must properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times including but not limited to hard hats, steel‑toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust vision. Job is performed in outdoor settings to include walking, driving, and carrying supplies throughout all seasons with exposure to heat and cold conditions, and potentially wildlife.
