Make a meaningful impact in the classroom as a Paraprofessional Substitute for the upcoming 26/27 school year! This contract opportunity offers you the flexibility of per diem assignments, working 6.5 hours per day to support students and educators onsite. Perfect for those who thrive on variety and want to help children succeed, you'll step into roles to cover contractor call outs throughout the academic year.
Bring your experience to a dynamic school environment, collaborating closely with teachers, students, and staff to foster an inclusive learning atmosphere. This position is for professionals excited to make a difference in the lives of school-aged children on a day-to-day basis.
Qualifications:
- Two years of college credits from an accredited institution, OR an associate degree or higher, OR a passing score on an approved academic assessment (e.g., ParaPro, ParaPathways, The Master Teacher), OR fulfillment of competencies as listed in the MDE approved grid
- PCA certificate (or willingness to obtain—quick and free)
- At least 1 year of professional experience engaging with school-aged children
- Preferred: 2+ years working in a school-based paraprofessional role
Responsibilities:
- Step in as a substitute paraprofessional/educational assistant at various school sites
- Support teachers and students, ensuring a positive and safe classroom environment
- Follow lesson plans and provide academic and behavioral support as needed
- Adapt quickly to new classroom settings and group dynamics
- Communicate effectively with staff regarding student needs and progress
