This role reports to the Hillcrest Operating Room Nurse Manager and provides direct supervision to professionals or skilled technical employees. The assistant nurse manager functions as an advisor to the unit and administration, analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies, and exercises judgment within defined procedures. The position oversees staff, ensures accountability and stewardship of department resources, and works closely with leadership and team members from Hillcrest Medical Center Operating Room and its 11 operating rooms. The assistant nurse manager ensures optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and/or care delivery, promotes an environment for shared voice in nursing practice, and is accountable for the quality, safety, patient experience and cost‑effectiveness of patient care. Responsibilities Supervise staff to assure accountability and stewardship of resources. Analyze and resolve problems, interpret policies, and exercise judgment within procedures. Monitor daily operations and overall function of the HC Operating Room Department. Work closely with leadership and team members across the operating rooms. Serve as a resource to staff, physicians, students and others. Assume full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager. Consult and collaborate with other health care professionals to coordinate patient care management. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing. Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months. Five or more years of relevant experience, including at least three years of recent OR RN experience in acute care. Demonstrated hospital management skills and progressive expertise in patient care services. Knowledge of disaster incidents and sentinel events; ability to problem‑solve with critical thinking. Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Nursing or related area. CNOR certification. One year or more of recent supervisory or management experience. Experience scrubbing and circulating. Special Conditions Hourly position, eligible for shift differentials. Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Employment subject to criminal background check and pre‑employment physical. Pay Annual Full Pay Range: $132,600 - $259,800 (prorated if percentage less than 100%).
