Your role will be to:Proactively attain a clean, safe and healthy work environment for all employees.Retrieve and study assembly instructions, detailed part prints, assembly layouts and parts lists.Gather parts/units, tools and/or material from inventory using a supplied material list.Prepare parts prior to assembly. This includes small sized unit assembly work.Fives Giddings & Lewis is seeking a Precision Assembler to build, fit, align, and verify high-precision machine tool components and assemblies. This role works from engineering drawings and assembly instructions to ensure machines meet quality and customer specifications.Key Responsibilities:Assemble mechanical components, subassemblies, and machine systems.Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and assembly documentation.Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.Perform fitting, alignment, drilling, tapping, and assembly operations.Verify dimensions, tolerances, and machine specifications.Operate cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment safely.Troubleshoot assembly and fit-up issues as they arise.Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.Support machine testing, checkout, and quality inspections.Qualifications:Mechanical assembly or manufacturing experience preferred.Ability to read mechanical drawings and work instructions.Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.Ability to safely lift, move, and assemble large machine components.Work on world-class machine tools serving aerospace, defense, energy, and industrial customers.
