Certified Outpatient Coder

To ensure accurate coding for outpatient hospital encounters, the full-time Certified Outpatient Coder will assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, and applicable modifiers while working remotely. Key responsibilities Codes medical record documentation for various outpatient services, ensuring compliance with coding policies and guidelines Collaborates with Clinical Documentation Improvement, billing, and revenue integrity teams to enhance documentation and optimize reimbursement Meets established quality and productivity benchmarks while managing the DNFB to minimize uncoded days Required qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Certification as a Certified Physician Coder - Apprentice (CPC-A) or Certified Outpatient Coder - Apprentice (COC-A) required; CPC or COC preferred Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology Experience with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems Ability to work independently in a remote environment and meet productivity standards
