Part-Time Medical Assistant / Medical Scribe

We are looking for a Medical Assistant/Scribe to join our practice. This is a part‑time position, for up to 30 hours per week. We are looking for a candidate that is enthusiastic, hard‑working, and knowledgeable. Candidate must be able to commit to working in our NYC office on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and to alternate Saturdays at our Westchester County office. This is an excellent opportunity to develop clinical skills and gain insight into the management and treatment of obesity and other medical conditions requiring general surgery through scribing and assisting Dr. Forbes. Pre‑Med students, Pre‑Residency candidates studying for the USMLE, Pre‑PA students are all welcome to apply. The Medical Assistant/Scribe will assist the physician in patient care through assessing vital signs, obtaining body composition scans and recording all pertinent medical information in the EMR/EHR system including history, treatment plans, sending lab orders, answering prescription requests, filling out referral orders, etc. Note: we do not currently draw blood work in the office. Responsibilities Greeting and escorting patients to the exam room Taking and recording vital signs, placing the patient on an electro‑impedance body composition analysis device and escorting the patient back to the waiting room Mastery of EMR/EHR systems: Scribing duties of recording HPI, PMH, Allergies, Medications, Family & Social history; in addition to sending lab orders and electronic prescriptions Assisting the office manager with administrative duties when needed including collecting office visit fees Maintaining all patient tracking spreadsheets including retail oral and injectable compounded medication spreadsheets Cleaning and preparing treatment rooms, organizing inventory Respectful and caring attitude towards patients and absolute compliance with all HIPAA procedures Performing other duties as assigned Qualifications EMR systems experience: 1 year Healthcare/Scribe experience: 1 year Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology coursework Bachelor's degree, preferably in Life Sciences Proficiency with computers and maintaining spreadsheets Typing speed 50+ WPM Job Type 30 to 40 hours a week Medical Specialty General Surgery Medical Weight Management and Age Management Schedule 8-10 hours a day Saturdays Location New York, NY 10021: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required) Additional Requirements Minimum 12 Month Commitment #J-18808-Ljbffr Capyear
