Clinical Research Coordinator

Job Title: Clinical Research Coordinator - Oncology Job Description The Clinical Research Coordinator will coordinate oncology clinical trials across phases I-IV, managing a caseload of patients in active treatment and follow-up while supporting the growth of a rapidly expanding cancer research program. This role focuses on patient-facing activities such as screening, recruitment, enrollment, and consenting, as well as close collaboration with nurses, physicians, regulatory teams, data teams, and study sponsors in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities * Coordinate day-to-day activities for a caseload of approximately 7-9 oncology patients in active treatment, as well as patients in follow-up. * Support the conduct of multiple concurrent clinical trials, including phases I-IV, ensuring adherence to study protocols and timelines. * Pre-screen patients using medical records and other available data to identify potential candidates for clinical trials. * Recruit patients for industry-sponsored drug trials by clearly explaining study opportunities and assessing eligibility. * Obtain informed consent from patients, ensuring they fully understand study procedures, risks, and benefits in accordance with ethical and regulatory standards. * Collaborate closely with nurses to schedule and support patient visits, including coordinating logistics for clinic days and follow-up appointments. * Work with physicians and the broader research team to ensure accurate and timely execution of study-related procedures and assessments. * Partner with regulatory and data teams to support accurate documentation, data integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements. * Manage and prioritize work across at least five active trials, adjusting to varying levels of complexity and patient needs. * Communicate regularly with study sponsors and internal stakeholders to facilitate smooth study operations and address issues as they arise. * Leverage electronic medical records (EMR) and chart review to track patient status, document trial activities, and maintain accurate records. * Seek guidance from the Senior Clinical Research Coordinator as needed to resolve complex issues and ensure best practices. * Contribute to the continued growth and development of the oncology research program and cancer centers by supporting new and ongoing trials. * Flex schedule as needed to accommodate late patient visits, coordinating with leadership to adjust hours later in the week when necessary. Essential Skills * Clinical research experience, with a strong preference for at least 2 years as a Clinical Research Coordinator in oncology. * Experience with clinical trials across phases I-IV, including industry-sponsored drug trials. * Phase I drug trial experience; candidates from other therapeutic areas will be considered if they have phase I drug experience. * At least 2 years of experience obtaining informed consent from patients for clinical trials. * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent trials, typically at least five, with varying levels of complexity. * Hands-on experience with patient pre-screening, recruitment, and enrollment for clinical trials. * Proficiency in chart review and use of electronic medical records (EMR) in a clinical research setting. * Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams, including nurses, physicians, regulatory staff, data teams, and sponsors. * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient-facing interactions and cross-functional collaboration. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Phase I oncology experience is a strong plus. * Experience with regulatory aspects of clinical trials, including working alongside regulatory teams. * Experience in oncology research and familiarity with cancer center operations. * Demonstrated interest in contributing to the growth of a clinical research program and expanding service lines. * Ability to adapt to evolving responsibilities as new trials open and research sites expand. Work Environment The Clinical Research Coordinator will be part of a dedicated oncology research team working primarily onsite at a north campus location, with the expectation of regular travel to an east campus as research activities expand there. Over time, this role will transition to being based full-time at the east location, with the exact timeline to be determined. The schedule follows a structured clinic rhythm: Tuesdays and Thursdays are heavy clinic days focused on patient visits; Mondays and Wednesdays are lighter clinic days; and Fridays are primarily administrative days with the option to work from home, unless an in-person patient visit is required. The environment is fast paced and highly collaborative, involving daily interaction with nurses, physicians, regulatory staff, data teams, and study sponsors, supported by a lead Clinical Research Coordinator for guidance. Occasional late evenings may be needed to accommodate patient visits, with flexibility to shift hours later in the week to maintain work-life balance. The role relies heavily on electronic medical records and standard clinical research tools within a professional oncology clinic and research setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $37.00/hr.
