Senior Scientist II / Principal Scientist I, Biologics Drug Product Development

AbbVie seeks a Senior Scientist II or Principal Scientist I to lead biologics drug product formulation and process development within the R&D organization. The role involves designing development studies, managing scale-up and technology transfer, and collaborating across cross-functional teams to advance parenteral and genetic medicine products.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and execution of biologics formulation, process development, and robustness studies
- Support scale-up and technology transfer activities to internal and external manufacturing sites
- Drive scientific initiatives to enhance capabilities, platforms, and business processes
- Communicate development plans, risks, and mitigation strategies to stakeholders and management
- Represent Bio DPD on cross-functional Product Presentation and CMC teams
Requirements
- 12+ years industry experience with Bachelor's, 10+ with Master's, or 4+ with PhD (Sr. Scientist II level)
- Proven expertise in biologics or genetic medicine drug product process development and manufacturing
- Hands-on experience with sterile unit operations including freeze-thaw, filtration, lyophilization, and filling
- Experience authoring regulatory filings and batch records for biologics and parenteral products
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional drug product development teams
- Strong problem-solving skills in complex scientific and technical challenges
