Barista PositionThe Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, specialty beverages, and light food items while providing exceptional guest service in a fast-paced environment. This position creates a welcoming atmosphere for guests, processes transactions accurately, maintains cleanliness and food safety standards, and contributes to outstanding guest experience by delivering prompt, friendly, and efficient service.This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.Six (6) months of previous work experience required.Previous barista, food service, hospitality, customer service, or retail experience preferred.This employer is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, or any other protected status under the Missouri Human Rights Act or applicable federal law.Employment with this organization is at-will and may be terminated by either party at any time, with or without cause or notice.Required to provide documents to show the applicant is eligible to work in the United States.Applicants must be able to perform all essential functions of job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES:NoneCOMMUNICATION:Makes efforts to keep informed of company information and communications by reviewing property bulletin boards, digital signage, and company newsletter.Effectively communicates concerns and information to supervisor and listens to communication from supervisor.Effectively relates ideas for improvements to supervisor and management in accordance with chain of command.Observes and reports all unsafe behavior displayed by internal and external guests.DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS:Greet and welcome guests in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.Take food and beverage orders accurately, paying close attention to guest preferences and special requests.Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, and other menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.Serve beverages and prepared food items promptly while ensuring exceptional guest service.Provide exceptional guest service by greeting guests, answering questions, and addressing concerns professionally.Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems and handle cash and credit card transactions accurately.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, equipment, dining areas, and workstations.Work collaboratively with team members to ensure a seamless guest experience.Maintain knowledge of menu offerings and amenities to assist guests.Adhere to all company policies.Ensure an adequate supply of clean cups, mugs, plates, utensils, and serving materials throughout each shift.Monitor inventory levels and restock products and supplies as needed to support daily operations.Inspect coffee brewing and beverage preparation equipment to ensure proper operation and promptly report maintenance or repair needs.Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, health, and company policies and procedures.Assist with opening, closing, and daily operational duties as assigned.Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.GUEST SERVICE:Provides excellent internal and external guest services, always treating internal and external guests with courtesy and consideration.Cooperates and communicates with all fellow employees, always exhibiting mutual respect and consistently projecting a positive, helpful image/attitude.REGULATORY COMPLIANCE:Follows all federal, state, and local occupational safety and health regulations (OSHA standards).Complies with food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations when preparing or serving food and beverages.Maintains a safe environment for guests, staff, and business partners reporting hazards promptly.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Read Company or departmental reports, newsletters, and documents.Must obtain and maintain any food handler permits or certifications required by applicable law or company policy.Ability to obtain alcohol service certification if the location serves alcoholic beverages.Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and beverage presentation.Ability to operate espresso machines, grinders, and beverage equipment.Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment.Conflict resolution and guest recovery skills.Perform routine and complex mathematical computations.Protect the Company's value by keeping information confidential.Perform assigned tasks under limited supervision. Follow written and verbal instructions.Establish and maintain positive relationships with managerial staff, co-workers, guests, and the public.
