Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clerk. Job Responsibilities Processing of physician requisitions: fills out physician requisition accurately, checks for correct codes, patient demographics and requested tests, secures physician signature and/or prescription form, efficiently directs patient to finance and phlebotomist areas. Sorts and distributes mail accurately to various locations within the Medical Center. Performs errands according to supervisor's instructions, taking materials to correct location promptly and timely. Answers the telephone according to lab protocol: courteous manner, identifies department, takes message thoroughly and accurately, transfers calls to the correct individual, and provides accurate information to routine questions. Processes doctors and pre‑accession requisitions daily, maintaining them organized, filing accurately, and keeping files up to date. Enters and receives patient data: performs clerical accessioning and verifies patient data in the computer according to established laboratory procedures, types information accurately, and follows instructions given by supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or the equivalent. Effective oral, written, communication and interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of personal computer, ability to type 35 wpm with a minimum of one year of full‑time experience in a laboratory setting. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of medical terminology. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
