Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Inspects and performs minor maintenance and repair of electrical wiring circuits and equipment including pneumatic tube system. Inspects and performs minor maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Inspects and performs minor maintenance and repair of plumbing systems. Inspects and performs all phases of maintenance, renovations new construction and repair to the building systems in accordance with manufacturers specifications and established practices. Reads and interprets construction blueprints, manufacturer's instructions to construct and/or assemble or install new equipment. Observes and adheres to safety and other regulations and practices and contributes to a positive work climate and overall team effort of the department. To include lock-out/tag-out, confined space and MRI safety. Performs other duties as assigned, including responding to all codes and assisting in enforcing Hospital security rules and policies regarding restraints. Completes all safety educational requirements.

Experience Required

• Working knowledge of building systems and ability to read and use blueprints
• Skill and proficiency to read, write and perform mathematical calculations and measurements as normally required through official completion of high school or its equivalent.
• Demonstrate a level of competency in building construction, renovation, and repair, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and other related building systems
• Knowledge of local, state and national building codes and ordinances as they relate to a hospital facility and the ability to properly interpret them.
• Ability to move or lift tools and equipment in excess of 100 pounds on an occasional basis; frequent walking, sitting, climbing, bending and stooping.

Education Requirements

• High school diploma required
• Completion of technical or vocational school preferred

License/Certification Requirements

Valid New Jersey Driver's license.

Special Requirements

Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
