Responsibilities Assign units to Preppers and coordinate with the Senior Painter regarding responsibilities and ensure proper equipment. Bleed out the air compressor to remove moisture, then run it to build up pressure. Lubricate all air tools. Set up the work area with the assigned tools (DA sander, angle grinder, decal eraser, air gun, tack rags, degreaser, tape). Inspect particle respirator and ensure it is functioning. Remove decals and adhesive with a decal eraser. Scuff paint with a DA, sand to metal in areas with rust or where body work is required (final sand should be no less than 180grit sandpaper). Carefully blow the unit to remove dust and debris, then clean it with degreaser and tack cloth. Apply tape/mask for paint and pick up any tape or decals stuck to the floor, sweeping as needed. Inspect the work area to ensure the prep bay is left the same as before the paint process. Perform other duties assigned as needed. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. 0–2 years of experience in a similar role. Occasional ability to work at heights above 10feet. Ability to wear a respirator and/or hearing protection as required. Ability to bend, kneel, and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time. Position is deemed Safety Sensitive under United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
