Civil Foreman

Job Summary Oversees a crew(s) in construction, fabrication, installation and dismantling of form work of fixtures of metal, wood and other accessories. Responsibilities Build wooden structures such as stairs, concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters according to blueprints or oral instructions; install partitions and cabinet work. Examine blueprints, sketches or building plans to determine material required and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated. Select, load, and haul job material to work site. Prepare layout of form or fixture to be fabricated using lines or grades. Measure boards, timbers, or plywood using square, measuring tape and ruler and mark cutting lines on materials using pencil and scriber; shape materials to required sizes using saws, chisels, and planes. Verify accuracy of structure with transit, plumb bob, square and level. Use carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screwdrivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars. Nail cleats (braces) across boards to construct concrete-supporting forms. Brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls. Erect frame work for structures and lay sub‑flooring. Cut and assemble timbers to build trestles and cofferdams. Erect scaffolding for buildings and other structures and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways. Construct forms, chutes, and align form panels for pouring concrete and grout. Fit and install pre‑fabricated window frames, doors, weather stripping interior and exterior trim and finished hardware. Fit and nail sheathing on outer walls and roofs of buildings; set and brace anchor bolts. Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities with tools and equipment. Demonstrate ability to tie rebar. Operate electric and pneumatic tools. May rig materials. Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Perform other duties as required. Requirements / Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous years of experience in the field or related area, with knowledge of commonly‑used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy. Ability to rate information using measurable or checkable standards. Ability to compare and identify differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects. Ability to observe flat drawings or diagrams and understand how they would look as solid objects. Basic mathematical skills. Follow oral and written directions. Work at heights without fear. Work under immediate supervision and exhibit some independent judgement and decision‑making. Report to a supervisor or manager. Benefits 401(k) plan with company match.
