Job Description
Job Title: Med Surg/Tele RN

Must-Have: IVs, Drains, Ostomies, Wound Vacs, NG Tubes, Foley Catheters, Electronic Health Record, Intermediate Care background

Description:
Unit participates in an auto offer process.
The department includes PCU/MS RN roles.
The unit has 29 beds.
Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4 during days and 1:6 during nights.
Common diagnoses include abdominal surgeries, ear/nose/throat surgeries, complex wounds, and general medical cases.
Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips such as heparin and, infrequently, insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin.
There are telemetry and monitor technicians on this unit.
Registered Nurses are not required to read telemetry strips.
Technicians monitor rhythms and document them in the electronic health record.
A monitor is available on the unit for Registered Nurses to view their patients' rhythms.
The charge nurse takes a smaller patient assignment.
Agency staff are not required to work in a charge role.
Nurse aides are present on the unit with ratios of 1:8 during days and 1:14 during nights.
Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, vapotherm, and occasional tracheostomy care.
There are no ventilators on this unit.
Block scheduling is not guaranteed, but efforts are made to accommodate block schedules, especially for night shifts.
Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required.
There is no call or standby requirement.
Floating occurs on a rotation to other med/surg units if overstaffed.
Scrubs of any color are allowed.
Registered Nurses must clock in and out for shifts.
All clinicians must meet employment eligibility criteria.
